KIENLE at RETRO CLASSICS 2022

For KIENLE Automobiltechnik, RETRO CLASSICS is a home game. Here you can read everything about the appearance in the Stuttgart exhibition halls

Judging by its customers from all over the world, RETRO CLASSICS really is considered a home game for KIENLE Automobiltechnik: From the company's headquarters in Heimerdingen, it takes only half an hour to drive to the Stuttgart Trade Fair Center. There is no question that Klaus Kienle and his team will be at the start of RETRO CLASSICS again this year: "We're there as a good tradition," says the founder and managing director of KIENLE Automobiltechnik, "and we're very much looking forward to being there with an exclusive and very broad range of classic cars."
KIENLE Automobiltechnik is regarded worldwide as a renowned specialist for Mercedes-Benz classics from all eras. In particular, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL in its two variants as a gullwing and roadster are Klaus Kienle's specialty, as are the large 600 models. In addition, the impressive KIENLE stand promises further outstanding classics and collector's items. This illustrious vehicle in particular will draw visitors' eyes like a magnet: The majestic Mercedes-Benz 540 K Cabriolet C from 1936, painted in the color marron and lined with beige leather, had once been given to King Faruk of Egypt as a wedding present from the German government. The supercharged car with its 180 hp, which was legendary at the time, is both elegant and rare: only 32 of this version were produced at the time. The price remains discreet - officially Klaus Kienle is offering the car against a bid: "With the presentation of this dazzling Mercedes-Benz 540 K Cabriolet C from a prominent previous ownership, we remain true to our goal of always offering the public something outstanding," says Klaus Kienle.
Together with his large team of experts, who will be present in large numbers, he is looking forward to many exciting discussions - and also to interested questions about individual models. There is hardly a topic relating to these vehicles that is not familiar to the 80 or so employees of the family business, which was founded in 1984.
The Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss proves just how broad the range of fascination is at KIENLE Automobiltechnik. In 2009, AMG and McLaren produced only 75 examples of the last and rarest offshoot of the exclusive SLR series as a tribute to the SLR in which Sir Stirling Moss won the 1955 Mille Miglia with an impressive lead. This sporty icon is correspondingly purist: It was not fitted with a hood or even a windshield at the factory.
Klaus Kienle will be inviting visitors to a special highlight on Friday, April 22, 2022: at 2 p.m., legendary automotive photographer René Staud will be presenting his THE 300 SL BOOK at the KIENLE stand. The creative mind behind the photographic homage to the sports car of the century will sign the exclusive new edition of his 272-page, large-format book on request. It shows the fascination of the SL models in 125 different examples - quite a few of which come from KIENLE Automobiltechnik.
