Shortly afterwards the car was bought by the Mercedes Benz collector Gary Gallup, who let stored the car over decades by his friend and owner of the workshop Early Motors in California. In 2007 he started an extensive complete restoration in cooperation with specialist companies and the Mercedes Classic Center in Irvine.
